Funding Workforce Development

The CBTF (http://www.cbtf.com.bb) is a Government of Barbados/Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) initiative, established to better equip the Barbadian workforce with the skills and competencies they need to excel in the 21st century market place. A key component of the government’s Skills for the Future education and labour initiative, the CBTF will disburse $13 million over a three-year period in four cycles of funding. The Call for Proposals for the first cycle of funding was launched on April 11 and closes on May 23 with funds being disbursed from August.

The Global Participation Opportunity of ICANN

ICANN (http://icann.org) is the Internet Cooperation for Assigned Names and Numbers. It is a US based not-for-profit public-benefit cooperation which coordinates the management of common and critical Internet resources by following a global multi-stakeholder approaches to policy development. ICANN participants (you, me and humans everywhere) are dedicated to keeping the Internet secure, stable and interoperable. Via they (soon our) work, and that of the ICANN staff, it promotes competition and develops policy on the Internet’s unique identifiers. The next ICANN global public meeting – ICANN 50, is in London from June 20th to 26th, 2014 and we expect Barbados and the Caribbean to be represented.
